The new car smell hasn’t worn off inside the Auto Trim Design and CarNu Detail shop on Billings' West End.

The shop moved in early May to a new building at 2951 King Ave. W. Rimrock Auto Group, which owns the store, tore down an old building and built a new, 23,000-square-foot facility this spring.

Auto Trim combines three services in one. Up front, customers walk right into the retail section and can browse through running boards, trailer hitches, straps, lighting and other accessories. Those shelves are flanked by the custom design service and detailing.

In the back are eight bays where Auto Trim’s 13 employees can install parts and accessories, saving customers the trouble.

“They like the way it’s so open. You can see all three businesses,” manager Todd Meron said.

Rimrock Auto Mall owner Steve Zabawa said the new shop has a larger inventory and more space to move around.

“Customers are thrilled to see the new store,” Zabawa said in a news release.

The store had been operating for more than two decades on Phyllis Lane just outside Rimrock Mall, but it lacked visibility, Meron said. On King Avenue West, the main route to the new Scheels sporting goods store and the growing Shiloh Crossing retail sector, Auto Trim is easily seen by passing motorists, he said.

“Everything is moving out toward this section (of town at) Shiloh, King,” Meron said.
