The Billings Public Schools Education Foundation recently announced the winners of its 2018 Educator Scholarship Awards.
The Roger Eble Scholarship is awarded to educators to improve their skills in teaching children with unusual or challenging learning problems. Recipients of the 2018 Eble Scholarships are Miriam Verzatt and Melissa Fox, both of Washington Elementary School. They were awarded The Roger Eble Scholarship for their project, “Get Your Teach On and On Again!” and Lynda Chase at Beartooth Elementary for her project, “GYTO Conference-Get Your Teach On.”
The Jim Rickard Scholarship sponsors further study, in-district training, as well as projects within the school district. Recipient of the 2018 Eble Scholarships is Traci Piltz with the Technology Integration Learning Team for her project, “ISTE Awesomeness!”
The Kathy Hill Memorial Outstanding Leadership Scholarship provides funds for educators serving students in kindergarten through eighth grade to improve their leadership skills. This year’s winner is Chad Jackson of Ponderosa Elementary for “Resource Maximization.”
The Gail Surwill Scholarship provides funds for supporting projects and educator professional development to benefit student growth and opportunities. This year’s scholarship recipient is Aubyn Swigart at Poly Drive Elementary for her project, "Brain Science Institutes.”
The Rina B. Moog Writing Scholarship provides funds for educators in seventh through 12th grades to learn more effective ways to teach writing. This year’s scholarship recipient is the Jill McKnight at Skyview High for her project, “National Council for Teachers of English-National Writing Project.”
