YWCA's 30th annual Salute to Women
YWCA Billings is proud to celebrate the Salute to Women 30-Year Celebration on March 26th at 5.30 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
In 1983, the first Salute to Women banquet honored nine Montana women who made important contributions to their fields of expertise and the quality of life in Montana. Honorees were nominated from the fields of art, business, education, government, media, social services, the professions, sports, volunteer service and contributions to women. From its beginnings, Salute to Women has received enthusiastic response from city leaders and the public, all recognizing the importance of honoring women in our community.
In 1986, the YWCA Billings assumed responsibility for the event as an extension of its commitment to the social, spiritual, mental and physical growth of women and families, and as its major fundraiser. Thirty years later, we are proud to continue the tradition of Salute with the assistance of many volunteers and the support of the community, working together toward a common goal of saving lives, changing lives and empowering women!
The 30-Year Celebration will shine the spotlight on the 180 outstanding women and the Montana Women’s Run, who have been recognized as Salute to Women honorees and recipients of the YWCA Distinguished Service Award over the past three decades. During the Celebration, YWCA will present a new Meritorious Service Award to highlight the accomplishments of one individual who has provided exceptional service to our organization and our community over a number of decades.
This year’s event also features prominent men in our community who are serving as role models in getting men to take a stand to end violence against women. One in every three women in our region is a victim of domestic violence, sexual assault or harassment. The fasted growing sector of women being hurt includes younger women - ages 18-30. The communications methods these victims typically use involves mobile devices and texting, which means that innovative methods are needed to reach and help these women. This annual event raises funds to help reach the women through television spots, radio notices, billboards, newspaper advertising, social media 24-hour phone and text help lines.
The raised funds will also help protect women and children by providing a safe place in our secure shelter and give us the means to help meet the needs of hundreds of vulnerable children and adults through vital community programs.
Individual tickets are $85 per person and tables of eight are $680. Reservations are required and are available by calling 252-6303 or contacting firstname.lastname@example.org
Help make a difference for women and children in our community and enjoy an evening of fine dining, fantastic raffle items and amazing women!
