Monarch Montana, situated in the Little Belt Mountains, located on Scenic Highway 89 is home to one of the last remaining publicly owned railroad depots. Presently in need of restoration, the Monarch Neihart Historical Group, Inc. (MNHG) took on this high priority. Come celebrate with us as we present our inaugural Monarch Rocks! Summer Festival. Family oriented-there’s the opportunity to pan for gemstones; take a Belgian horse drawn wagon ride; face painting, over 35 crafters and vendors to lure men, women and children; talk with “old timers (at the History Table) who remember earlier days at the depot;” take a Depot Tour. Food and fun with breakfast and snack bar. Popcorn, candy; see you there for a day full of fun.
Starts Saturday, August 9, 2014 from 10 AM to 4 PM.
Take advantage of this beautiful area to enjoy a great summer afternoon. Campgrounds are available throughout Highway 89; motels in Great Falls, Neihart and White Sulphur Springs. The Little Belt Mountains sit within the Lewis and Clark National Forest, a wonderful place to find fun as everywhere you go you discover something new to do and see. Bike, boat, fish, hike, cave, trail ride or 4x4. The Sluice Box Canyon, cut out by Belt Creek is located 10 miles north of Monarch; Neihart is a historic mining town located 12 miles south (check out the many mines in the area); continuing south, there’s even a castle, located in White Sulphur Springs, 50 miles from Monarch.
