Works by nationally renowned watercolorist Rena Brouwer and impressive mixed media paintings by well-known Montana artist Mary Knapp will be shown through Oct. 27 at the Zier Gallery in Bridger.
The show, titled "Shades of September," showcases Brouwer's incredible freestyle watercolors and Knapp's creative layering techniques. An open house is set for Oct. 21 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Knapp is all about “shine and texture.” She has developed the use of alcohol inks, collage, and fused glass for her pieces. She often collaborates with metal sculpture artists, adding her glass to their creation. Her fused glass works can be found in contemporary home settings as well as offices.
Brouwer has worked in her freestyle watercolor for years. Her work with Windsor Newton and Simon Malls was just part of her lifetime art journey. She is enchanted with nature and forms the colors, lights and shadows of the forest and its wildlife in beautiful compositions. Her home along Wildcat Creek in Indiana, continues to be in inspiration to her art. Brouwer has traveled across the country, painting and giving workshops in watercolor.
Viewers are encouraged to decipher the process and unwrap the color layers as they view the brightly colored, vibrant work.
Guests are invited to sign up for a 2018 summer workshop with either Brouwer or Knapp. Signup is at the Zier Gallery.
