The Billings Public Library will host a book launch and signing of “Thieves of the Flame” by Audrey Schied on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. Schied, 15, is a Billings native and freshman at Billings Senior High.

Schied is the 2013 winner of the BookLogix Young Writers Contest in the 10- to 13-year-old category. BookLogix, a full-service publishing house based in Atlanta, created the contest and publishes the winners’ books. The contest is aimed at encouraging young people to express themselves and their thoughts through writing.

About “Thieves of the Flame”:

Josie Jaimes has fled her life of foster mothers to take shelter within the Thieves of the Flame. Along with juvenile Gladys, curious August, spunky twins Scarlett and Erica and their short-tempered but serious leader Drew, the thieves thrive in a life stealing from the society that has cast them out.

All of this changes with the discovery of a 200-year-old journal, creatures crafted from shadows and nightmares, and a secret their island home has held since the dawn of time. Josie finds herself within the company of the mysterious Crow of Omens and struggling to control her fears. In times of extreme danger, should she flee or fight?

“Thieves of the Flame” will be available on amazon.com through BookLogix.
