The Billings Public Library Foundation will be celebrating National Banned Book week with a Banned Book Scavenger Hunt, starting Monday, Sept. 25.
The purpose of the weeklong Banned Book Scavenger Hunt is to draw awareness to the importance of libraries and the freedom to read. Anyone can participate.
Five well-known banned books will be covered in black paper and placed in locations throughout Billings. Anyone who wants to participate can go to the Facebook pages of the Library Foundation, Billings Public Library or Yellowstone Public Radio to get clues about the locations. Be sure to check the Library Foundation’s Facebook pages daily for new clues. If you figure out the location and find the book, take your picture with it and post it on the Library Foundation’s Facebook page — the book is yours to take.
There will be prizes for people who collect all five books. The grand prize is two VIP tickets to the Foo Fighters concert on Dec. 9 at MetraPar k's Rimrock Auto Arena. Other prizes include an autographed Neil Gaiman poster and assorted gift cards.
The hunt concludes Saturday, Sept. 30. For more about the hunt or how you can support the Library Foundation, contact Leslie Modrow at email@example.com.
