Twenty dancers, instructors and a few parents involved with The Dance Factory performed a number from “Flash Dance,” and then dumped buckets of ice water on themselves for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge on Monday. Dance Factory owner Tina Hirchkorn said everybody thought her dancers would perform hip-hop but she wanted to recreate an iconic scene from the 1983 movie, incorporating elements of jazz and modern dance. Raquel Salazar, Drayden Haunt and Treslie Ball were the featured dancers in the piece, and teachers Jessica Kratochvil and Casey Mincoff helped with choreography.
