The Billings Public Library will play host to "Native American History Through Ledger Art," with Seidel Standing Elk, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 5 in the library's Community Room.

Part lecture and part interactive art lesson, attendees will be transported to another time and reminded of Montana’s rich Native history and, with Standing Elk’s guidance, receive the opportunity to create their own ledger art.

Standing Elk is a member of the Northern Cheyenne Nation and a descendant of the So-taaeo-o, the Morning Star People.

“My art is a diversity of reflections of the values, visions, dreams and stories told to me by my family, relatives, and elders of the Cheyenne. To be a traditional and contemporary artist at this time is my life is very rewarding and it is my honor to share these evolving times with everyone," Standing Elk said on his website.
