Looking for a fun way to spend your time and money this weekend or into the next week? Here are some top picks from The Gazette's Jaci Webb and Cathy Ulrich.

Jaci's pick

Strength and simplicity mark the Yellowstone Art Museum's new exhibit "Back to Work: The WPA Era,'' which includes works commissioned in the 1930s and 1940s as part of Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal. The project employed 8 million Americans to build bridges, roads, and other public entities. It also supported new works in art, theater, music and writing. The lithographs and woodcut prints in the YAM exhibit show deserted playgrounds, sweating laborers and tough women - all symbols of the struggles behind the Great Depression.

My favorite holidays always include the blowing up of things. That's why I love Thanksgiving! Picking turkey off the ceiling is fun. This weekend, however, we celebrate our independence with some beautiful displays of fireworks and patriotic music, and I am not crying. It's allergies.

Speaking of celebrating freedom, check out the "Celebrate Freedom" event at Castle Rock park sponsored by Harvest Church. From 4 to 9:30 p.m., there are free games, inflatables and live music. A barbecue is $2, and fireworks light up the sky beginning at dusk. God bless America.

I swear it's allergies.
