For the First Friday in July, the Galleries at 2500 Montana Avenue are presenting Wet Paint on Montana Avenue.

Playing off the idea of Venture Theatre's Wet Ink Festival, the Montana Avenue galleries are hosting 11 area artists who create art live tonight from 5 to 9 p.m. Participating artists include Carolyn Thayer, Angela Babby, Elliot Eaton, Michiko Conklin, Dennis Kern, Harry Koyama, Berna Ost, Mary Michael, Pat Schermerhorn, Dianne Mysse and Joe Trakimas.

These artists will be spread out among the five galleries on the 2500 block of Montana Avenue, creating art live while people watch and enjoy a beverage. Organizer Mark Sanderson, co-owner of the Toucan Gallery, said it will be a great opportunity for people to interact with visual artists as they create their work.

"Some of the artists may be working outside on the sidewalk if the weather is cooperative,'' Sanderson said.
