The Billings Community Band, under the direction of Rob Wells, will present its annual spring concert at the Alberta Bair Theater on Sunday at 3 p.m.

The theme is “Sounds of Bravery — a Musical Convergence.” The concert is special because it includes an outreach with the Joliet High School Band. Joni Bell, director of the Joliet High School Band, has taught 25 or her 28 years in Joliet. This concert is dedicated to Bell, who is retiring at the end of the school year.

Joliet's band will perform “Fuego del Alma” by Cark Strommen, “O Nata Lux” by Guy Forbes, and “Palladio” by Karla Jenkins.

The Community Band will perform “2nd Suite in F” by Gustav Holst, “Sky is Waiting” by Samuel Hazo, and “El Camino Real" by Alfred Reed.

The combined bands will perform “Legend of the Sword” by David Shaffer and end with “Purple Heart” by Shaffer, a work conducted by Bell.

Tickets are $7 for adults ($6 with Gazette coupon), and $4 for students 17 and younger. The concert is sponsored by The Billings Gazette and Drs. McBride and McBride.
