Barley & Sage will bring tunes to inspire dancers’ feet at the Contradance Billings event on Friday, Feb. 23 at MetraPark's Cedar Hall.
Classically trained and folk-inspired, Barley & Sage seeks to create a full spectrum of energetic dance music. Betsy Richards, from the Sandpoint, Idaho, area plays fiddle, and Steve Marty of Bozeman plays guitars and foot percussion. They will play a lively mix of jigs and reels ranging from Renaissance to contemporary, including early American, Celtic, French Canadian and original tunes. Enthusiastic contra dancers themselves, they enjoy creating dance sets.
The dance begins with the introductory workshop at 7:30 with Amy Letson and continues until 11 p.m. We dance on the beautiful large wooden dance floor of Cedar Hall at MetraPark. Admission is $10.
