Got a twang? Have a song you want to get out there?

You may be the new Country Idol. In collaboration with The Billings Gazette, the Billings Symphony Orchestra is taking auditions for the Country Idol contest starting today.

The top six will have a live performance shot on video in Studio Enjoy and readers can vote for their favorites starting in June. Top contestants will also be invited to perform at the annual Symphony in the Park concert, which attracts up to 10,000 for a free family concert at Pioneer Park in June.

Reader votes will determine the two or three performers invited to play with the BSO at the March 14, 2015, concert at the Alberta Bair Theater.

The contest is open to a single or duo country genre vocalists, with or without acoustic instruments. Contestants should send in their audition as a YouTube link with full name, address, phone number, and email address to the Billings Symphony at symphony@billingssymphony.org.

The YouTube audition may be a cover or original song of the artist’s choice. Submissions will be taken through midnight on May 15.

The BSO will provide further details to the finalists about song selection. Public voting will officially be open on the Gazette’s website after Symphony in the Park and will remain open until July 6.

Winners who are chosen for the March 14, 2015 concert will receive a performance stipend.
