Kids of all ages are invited to attend the third annual Koncerts for Kidz series of free music and dance celebrations at Dehler Park. The fun begins at 5:30 p.m. each night when the baseball stadium gates open and a variety of food vendors and preshow activities are there to entertain and warm up the crowd. The concerts begin at 6:30 p.m. on a performance stage set up at home plate. A live video feed direct to the electronic scoreboard offers a closeup view of the performers as they present a variety of live music offerings.
The series opens on Wednesday, June 1, with the “School’s Out Koncert For Kids,” the first of three series events. The opener will feature champion guitar/fiddle duo Jeff Troxel and Trevor Krieger, along with Robert and Constance Smith of Columbus, and the Ramblin’ Laurels. Additional dates include a Sunday, July 24, “Hodge Podge Koncert for Kidz” with the ABC Band and others, and an “Around the World Koncert for Kidz” date to be arranged for Friday, Aug. 19.
Sound services are again being contributed by Steve Zediker, and additional series sponsors and vendors are currently being sought to join Ident-A-Kid, Arts Partners Unlimited, SM Energy and others in making this a successful series.
Details concerning the variety of musicians, dancers and performers will be made available as performer confirmations are received. Check out last summer’s series online at www.koncertsforkidz.org. For more information, call Ian Elliot at 656-2744.
