The former Billings Senior High teacher accused of raping a 14-year-old student was arraigned this morning in District Court.

Stacey Dean Rambold, 49, appeared before Judge G. Todd Baugh on three felony counts of sexual intercourse without consent. Rambold was accompanied by Billings attorney Jay Lansing during the brief court hearing where he pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Rambold was allowed to remain free pending trial after previously posting a $25,000 bond. A trial date will be set later.

A former business and technology teacher, Rambold is accused of having a sexual relationship with a female student between October and December of last year. The girl reported the alleged relationship in April, and Rambold was immediately placed on paid leave. He resigned from the school district in July and has since surrendered his Montana teaching certificate.

The girl reported that she had sexual contact with Rambold three times, including once in Rambold’s office. Two other alleged incidents occurred in Rambold’s car and at his house.
