Joe Mutchler has completed his FAA private pilot certificate at Rocky Mountain College. The son of Tom and Laura Mutchler of Silesia, Mutchler is a junior majoring in aeronautical science at Rocky Mountain College. The aeronautical science program includes a four-year baccalaureate degree that prepares graduates for careers as professional pilots. Mutchler plans to complete his instrument rating this year, which will include training in glass cockpit aircraft.

The University of Wyoming Extension's 4-H Youth Development Program will lead 21 American youth to Samoa for the American Youth Leadership Exchange Program (AYLP). Andrea Miller of Billings is one of the students participating in the three-week cultural exchange trip Dec. 13 to Jan. 4. AYLP is an exchange program that is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and is administered by University of Wyoming Extension. A total of 114 youth applications from 13 different states were received, and an additional 42 adult applications were submitted.

Christy K. Allen has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve. Allen is currently serving as Chief Of Health Services with 807th Medical Command, Fort Douglas, Utah. She has served in the military for 27 years. The daughter of Tom and Barbara Kress of Laurel, she is a 1985 graduate of Flathead High School in Kalispell.
