Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Ashton G. Kinzie graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. Kinzie is the son of Christopher and Emily Ivanovitch of Laurel.
Billings resident Conrad Mahto has joined the Montana Army National Guard and chosen to serve as a human resources specialist. A 2014 graduate of Billings West High, he will attend Army basic training and personnel school at Fort Jackson, S.C. Mahto has been assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1-163rd Cavalry Regiment in Belgrade. He also plans to attend college and hopes to work in law enforcement.
Billings resident Kaleb Ostman has joined the Montana Army National Guard and chosen to serve as an infantryman. Ostman, a 2014 graduate, will attend Army basic training and infantry school Fort Benning, Ga. He has been assigned to A Company, 1-163rd Cavalry Regiment in Billings. Ostman works for McKenzie River Pizza Company and plans to attend college in the fall.
Luke Hansen, a student at Billings Central Catholic High, has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Boy Scouts. During the process of satisfying the requirements for Eagle rank, Hansen has performed community service, provided service and leadership for his troop and is currently serving as Junior Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 7. In addition to the traditional outdoor skills learned in Boy Scouts, Hansen has earned over 30 merit badges.
His Eagle project was to plan and coordinate improvements at the Voyager’s Rest Fishing Access in Worden. His project included new gravel, new fire rings and refurbished picnic tables for the site’s campgrounds. Hansen will be formally presented the Eagle Scout award at a Court of Honor ceremony in the First United Methodist Church on Aug. 24.

Billings students graduating cum laude from Whitworth University include Sarah Gumm with a bachelor of arts in history; Rachel McKay with a bachelor of arts in psychology and Christine Moen with a bachelor of science in health science.
Ryan Brady graduated with honors from the University of Washington School of Law in Seattle, Wash. During his time at UW, Brady served as comments editor for the Washington Journal of Environmental Law & Policy, where his scholarly article on liability for environmental cleanup was published this spring. Brady also co-authored an article for the Global Trade and Customs Journal on the Trans-Pacific partnership last fall. He has been admitted to the Order of the Coif, a national honor society recognizing law school graduates in the top 10 percent of their class. Brady is a graduate of Billings West High School (2006) and Montana State University (2010).

Megan Brakke of Billings has been named to the spring semester dean’s list at Bethel University in St. Paul, Minn., with a GPA of 3.6 or greater.
Alex Stacey and Austin Stacey of Billings earned the distinction of First Honors (GPA 3.65 or higher) for the spring semester at the University of San Diego.

Kelsie Field, a student from Skyview High, was awarded a $1,000 four-year degree scholarship and is planning to major in wildlife ecology at the University of Montana Western.
Hope Watts from Billings West High was awarded a $1,000 four-year degree scholarship and is planning to major in chemistry at Montana State University Bozeman.
Michael Siebert, a student from Billings Senior High, was awarded a $1,000 four-year degree scholarship and is planning on majoring in journalism at the University of Montana.
Morgan Beckett, a student from Broadview High, was awarded a $1,000 four-year degree scholarship and plans to major in engineering at Montana State University.
Teri Steinbrink, a student at Montana State University Billings, was awarded a $1,000 non-traditional scholarship and is majoring in psychiatric rehabilitation/addiction counseling. Steinbrink is already a certified life coach, an ordained interfaith minister and spiritual counselor.
