WILTON, N.D. — Audie Rae Toineeta, 28 of Wilton, N.D., formerly of Lodge Grass, passed away Feb. 13, 2014.
One That Travels Well “Hawa shadaa wit chich,” a Crow name given to her by her clan uncle, Barney Old Coyote, was born Feb. 14, 1985, at Fort Ord, Calif. She grew up and received her early education at various Department of Defense schools, while following her father’s military career. She attended the Northern Cheyenne Tribal School in Busby, and graduated from the United Tribes College in Bismarck, N.D., with an AA degree in small business management. Her dream was to own a beauty salon and clothing store with her sisters Sharon and Elisha. She planned to earn a degree in engineering and hoped to help the children of Lodge Grass by opening a youth center. She had a big heart and was known to open her home to friends as well as strangers in need. She enjoyed spending time with her brothers and sisters and her special friends. She adored her four children and extended her motherly love to all her nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the Catholic Church and Mission Free Evangel Church, Ties the Bundle Clan and was a child of the Greasy Mouth. She loved to attend church and especially enjoyed the worship music. Her relationship with our Heavenly Father was important to Audie.
Her sister Amanda Toineeta, uncle Shawn Bear Ground, grandfather Greeley Bear Ground Not Afraid, great-great-great-grandfather Robert Summers Yellowtail, great-great-grandparents Edwin and Joy (Yellowtail) Toineeta, and Winona Plenty Hoops Yellowtail, and grandparents Robert Bulltail, Rosebud Bulltail, grandmother Regina Pretty On Top, and aunts Valerie Red Wolf and Josephine (Sunshine) Bulltail, cousins Sasha and Juliet Toineeta, Chelsea Desjarlais and Winston Not Afraid preceded Audie in death.
Survivors include her twin daughters Tavey and Miranda Medicine Crow; her sons Aubrey and Victory Blacklance III; her Goddaughters Audie Rae Young Bird and Selena Grace-Joy Trudell; her companion Victory Blacklance Jr; all her nieces and nephews; her mother Geri and stepfather Justin Racine; her father Wesley Toineeta; her Godparents Henry and Garnett Bright Wings III; her sisters, Gretchen Racine, Sharon and Elisha Toineeta; her brothers Michael L. Audie is survived by the Plenty Hawk, Blaine, Not Afraid, Toineeta, Pease, Bear Ground, Left Hand, Gets Down, Yellowtail, Hugs, Bulltail, Flatlip, LaFountain, Gonzales, Ramos, Pisano and Morning families. Our family is large and if we have forgotten anyone, please forgive us.
Rosary will be recited 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Lodge Grass Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Lodge Grass Cemetery. Bullis Mortuary has been entrusted with the arrangements.
