LAUREL — Beverly Ann Shay 72, of Laurel, passed away on July 17, 2014, after an extended battle with kidney failure and heart disease.
She was born on Feb. 2, 1942, in Morrill, Neb., to Phillip and Esther Heinrich. She was the middle child of three girls. At two years old her family moved to Riverton, Wyo., where she attended school and lived until 1979.
She was married to Erwin Vogelsang in 1959, with three children resulting from that union. They were divorced in 1979, and in 1980, she moved to Laurel and married Norman Shay.
She worked several years in Riverton and was employed by Thomae Lumber in Laurel for 15 years before retiring in 2007. Bev loved cooking, gardening, reading, embroidery, and she has a special passion for dangling earrings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, and son Greg.
She is survived by her husband, Norman; daughter Lisa Burkland; grandson Brandon Burkland; stepson Victor (Diana) Shay; step-grandchildren Kaelen and Victoria Shay; sisters Donna (John) Lafferty of Grand Junction, Colo., Susan Johnson of Riverton; several nieces and nephews; and close friends.
Cremation has taken place and memorial service will be held at Smith Funeral Chapel in Laurel at 2 p.m. Friday July 25, with inurnment in the Park City Cemetery following the service.
