Brian was born in Baker, Ore., but his love was for Alaska, where he spent 30 years of his life. He became an avid camper and fisherman, and loved to travel. He attended Sitka High School (Class of ‘78), where he received the award for State of Alaska Wrestling Champion Gold Medalist in the 188 lb. and heavyweight classes. He was always reading and trying to improve himself and his knowledge. He was always interested in science and was an expert in electronics. His heart's desire was to go back to university and get his electronics degree.
Brian was in the Naval Service on the USS Thomas Jefferson Nuclear Submarine stationed in Guam. He was a Missile Technician on the Polaris A-3 Thermonuclear System from 1978 to 1980.
Brian worked in the electronics field before he began his 20-year career in the cable television industry. He worked at Prime Cable of Alaska before it became GCI Communications, in Anchorage, Alaska. His integrity, ethics and commitment to excellence were a testimony of his character.
Brian was most happy spending time with his wife, family and friends. He loved people and his generosity knew no bounds. He was a caring and compassionate friend to all those who knew him.
Brian will be greatly missed by his loving wife Kathryn "Kate"; and his father, James "Jim" Lichner, Oregon; and his family (by marriage) in Canada.
