WILSALL — Chloris Guth Zimmerman, age 80, of Wilsall, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 2, 2014, at Livingston Health and Rehabilitation Center. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, May 8, 11 a.m., at the American Lutheran Church in Livingston (129 S. F St.). A viewing will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place at the Wilsall Cemetery, followed by fellowship at the Wilsall Senior Citizens Center. Memorials may be made to the Wilsall Scholarship Fund, P.O. Chloris was born Oct. 13, 1933, the daughter of Henry and Angeline (Kuhns) Guth. She resided on the family ranch near Wilsall for her entire life. She graduated from Wilsall High School in 1951 and for a while, attended Eastern Montana College in Billings. On Nov. 27, 1955, she married Charles “Bud” Zimmerman Jr. and began ranching with him. Because the two ranches were right next to each other, she was able to continue helping with and later run her father’s ranch.
Chloris loved 4-H and was a leader of the Wilsall Wranglers for 36 years. She was a member of the Montana Hereford Association, the Park-Gallatin Hereford Association and the Park-Gallatin Ladies’ Auxiliary and insisted on raising Hereford cattle until the end. Chloris believed in the ranching way of life. During her 24 years of service on the Park County Planning Board, she worked to preserve those lands and that way of life. She belonged to the Daughters of the Nile, Wilsall Vets and Auxiliary and the Shields River Lutheran Church. She always loved to visit with friends. During the many years on the ranch, she enjoyed cooking and baking, especially chocolate cake and entertaining the many relatives that came to visit in the summers.
Chloris is survived by her sons, Ned (Cindy) Zimmerman and Van (Christina Sharpe) Zimmerman; grandchildren, Grete (Andrew) Telander, Caitlin and Eric Zimmerman; great-grandchildren, Hazel and Vivian Telander; many beloved nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Chloris is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Angeline Guth; husband, Bud Zimmerman; sisters, Evelyn Stoner and Elaine Tashjian.
