Christopher John Nelson died on March 4, 2012, after a long and valiant battle with cancer.

Chris was born Jan. 26, 1941, in Boston, Mass., spending his youth in the San Francisco Bay area. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service on the USS Growler. Upon graduation from the University of Montana Law School, Chris embarked on a 44-year career practicing law in Billings with integrity and compassion.

In his free time, Chris pursued fishing, boating and golf with true passion. Together with his best friend, Sheila, he enjoyed numerous golf excursions throughout the Pacific Northwest, as well as several golf junkets to Sheila's native Ireland.

Chris is survived by his longtime companion, Sheila Sharkey, his brother Noel "Ed" Nelson, and his two nieces, Sara and Joanna Nelson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Katherine and Elmore Nelson.

Chris will be remembered as a gentle and thoughtful man with an exceptionally sharp wit and will be sorely missed by all.
