Dianne K. Husby died Aug. 16, 2014, from complications of multiple sclerosis.
Dianne was born May 3, 1945, to Donald and Marlys Husby in Menomonie, Wisc., and graduated valedictorian of her class from Menomonie High School in 1963. She received a BA in mathematics from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn., in 1967. She spent most of her teaching career at Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount, Minn., receiving Teacher of the Year award — a recognition of which she was very proud. She retired in 2005 for health reasons and moved to Billings to be closer to family.
She continued to tutor mathematics and to volunteer at Billings Clinic, where she was noted for her dry wit, teasing and high jinx. She enjoyed Bible study at Aspen Meadows and Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. Dianne was an avid reader and collector of books, working many years part-time at Barnes and Noble. She provided her beloved nieces with an entire library.
Dianne was pre-deceased by her father, Donald Husby, and is survived by her mother, Marlys; sister, Lucinda “Cindy” (Larry Disney); brother, Dan (Lynn Krause), and her nieces, Erin, Erika and Amanda Disney.
Michelotti-Sawyers is in charge of arrangements. A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 22, at Christ Lutheran Church in Menomonie, Wisc. A memorial service will be held in Billings at a future date.
The family extends special thanks to Dr. Karen Cabell and Melanie Schmitz, PA, for their loving care, as well as the staff at Marquis Vintage Suites, Aspen Meadows Nursing Home and Billings Clinic Transitional Care Unit. In lieu of flowers, the family requests all memorials be directed to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
