Mom was born in Portland, Ore., on June 14, 1914, the daughter of George Hinkle Sr. and Katie Kreger Hinkle.

At 9 months of age, she moved to Montana, in 1915, west of Billings, with her family working in the beet fields. In 1919 she moved to Sidney, Mont., to take up farming. Mom went to school at Ridgetown School which had one room and eight grades.

In 1926 Mom moved to Huntley for one year, then moved east of Billings, which is now known as McGirl Road.

On Dec. 16, 1933, Mom married our dad Irving C. Hintt. Dad died on March 10, 1949, due to an accident while working on a car.

In 1934 they moved to Riverton, Wyo., to homestead with dad’s sister Lydia and husband Dave Anderson; however, moved back to Billings after one month. They moved to the dry land east of Billings in 1935.

Mom had her first child, a son, Howard I. Hintt, on Dec. 3, 1936, also a daughter, Marilyn Esther Hintt, on May 4, 1941.

After being widowed at the age of 34, Mom worked at Home Bakery on South 27th Street, Clarks Market on First Avenue North and at Custer Market on Broadwater Avenue. She was very independent raising her family all on her own, never getting assistance from anyone.

Mom volunteered as a Pink Lady and a Foster Grandparent for 19-½ years at St. Vincent Healthcare followed by a Sr. Companion for four years.

On Sept. 25, 1959, Mom married James W. Chidley in Columbus, Mont. He passed away on Feb. 26, 1976. They owned All Service Inc.

Mom was a member of Pilgrim Congregational Church for over 50 years. She joined First Congregational Church in 1997.

She loved doing things for everyone. She baked the best peanut butter cookies. Even made a batch a couple weeks ago. She was still living on her own, being independent.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both of her husbands; and her three brothers, Pete, John and George.

She is survived by her son Howard (Carol) Hintt, daughter Marilyn Richardson; four grandsons, Kevin (Martha) Hintt, Kelly (Julie) Hintt, Jeff and Mark Richardson; five great-grandchildren, Makenzie and Conner Hintt, Blake and Nicole Richardson and Stephanie (Curt) Solberg; and many nieces and nephews.
