Garrett Jonathan Simons, 16, “The Montana Cowboy,” passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 3, 2010.
Garrett was born on Oct. 12, 1993, in Billings and spent most of his life in Joliet. Despite his insurmountable challenges, Garrett’s passion for horses and the cowboy life brought him many wonderful friends and experiences. He always had a smile on his face. Garrett was able to take his final horseback ride here on earth, with help from special friends, four days prior to his passing. On the day Garrett passed away, his racehorse, Flex, won the “Best of the Best” race challenge in Belcourt, N.D. We know Garrett had a hand in that.
Garrett is survived by his mother, Jody Simons; grandparents Jon and Dixie Kober; sister Holly Roan; “Dad,” J.B. Roan; grandparents Rich (Sue) Simons; uncle Bob (Jennifer) Simons; aunt Lee Ann (Dave) Gaer; and numerous cousins and relatives.
A celebration of Garrett’s life will be held at the Joliet High School gymnasium on Wednesday, July 14, at 2 p.m.
