Helen LaVoy passed away on March 14, 2018 at the age of 91. She grew up in Laurel with five brothers and sisters and she was the last survivor.
After graduation Helen went to Western Union School in Billings and was offered a job in San Francisco as a teletype operator. She worked for Western Union all over the United States. She started out working with Morse Code moving up to the early versions of computers. She retired from Western Union after 31 years.
After retirement Helen moved to Sun City West, Ariz. She played golf, bowled, played cards and volunteered at the hospital. She returned to Billings to be closer to family and resided at Mission Ridge.
She is preceded in death by her parents Henry and Katherine Batt, and siblings Clara Kuchta, Ruben Batt, Marvin Batt, Myrna Knaub and Cecelia Beadle. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held March, 23 at 1:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Donations can be made to the Rescue Mission or the Billings Food Bank.
