Irma passed away on April 1, 2014, at the age of 103. She was born on June 12, 1910, in Chance, Mont., (Carbon County) to Quince Chance and Eva Allen Chance.
In her incredible 103 years she had many experiences and adventures. She was a sheepherder, ranch cook, waitress, bar and hotel owner, reporter, bank teller, hat maker, sales representative, and seamstress. She owned the Irma Sewing Shop in downtown Billings for many years. She was VFW Auxiliary State President, State VFW Cooties Pres., and VFW Auxiliary Hospital Chairman for 16 years. She took great pride in her genealogy work and published the history of the Allen and Chance families, early pioneers in Montana.
She is survived by her only child, daughter Jackalin B. Harper. Irma married Clarence “Mac” McLuskie in 1964. He preceded her in death.
In addition to her daughter, she is survived by five step children, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a gravesite service at the Belfry Cemetery on June 26, at 10:30 a.m.
