ELIZABETH, Colo. — Janet L. Whitson, 75, of Elizabeth, passed away on Friday, July 2, 2010, at her home after a four-year battle with Lou Gehrig’s disease. Born Janet L. Phillips on Oct. 26, 1934, in Las Vegas, she was the daughter of Orville and Muriel (Young) Phillips.
On Oct. 30, 1954, she married James A. Whitson in her mother’s home in Billings. A homemaker, Janet was a very special wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who touched many lives.
Mrs. Whitson is survived by her husband James and special companion “Nicki”; children Terri (Dan) Wofford of Elizabeth, Robert (Nancy) Whitson of Durango, Sharon (Jon) Boothe of Las Vegas and Pam Sheffield of Kinston, N.C., Suzanne (Bobby) Harrell, also of Kinston, and Jonathan (Shelly) Whitson of Highlands Ranch. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Vanessa, Danielle, Amberlyn, Casey, Sean, Raelyn, Little Robb, Brianna, Jonathan and Christopher; one great-grandchild, Damion; sister, Joyce Watkins of Port Angeles, Wash.; and brother Roy Wayne (Linda) Phillips of Worland, Wyo.
Janet is preceded in death by her parents, Muriel and Orville Phillips; and one brother, Ted Phillips.
Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, July 9, at Olinger Andrews Caldwell Gibson Funeral Home, Castle Rock.
