Marlene Gerberding, 66, went to her final resting place on Tuesday morning, June 3, after a short battle with cancer. She was a kind and loving person, and she will be missed.

She met and later married Robert (Bob) Gerberding on Oct. 11, 1964. They were blessed with two children, Scott Douglas and Kathy Jo. The family moved to Kalispell and lived there for a few years.

On returning to Wolf Point, she worked for Bryan's Family Clothing for many years. She was employed as the bakery manager for Piggly Wiggly. Marlene and Bob divorced in 1982. She bartended at several of the finest and upstanding establishments the area had to offer. She worked for the Roosevelt County jail as a detention officer and then transferred to Billings to work for the Yellowstone County Detention Facility.

She was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer in September 2013. She went to live at RiverStone Health Hospice Home on May 16, 2014.

She was preceded in death by both her parents, Herman Grotte and Eva Johnson; her dear sister, Gwen Meidinger Mayer. She is survived by her children, Scott Gerberding and Kathy Otis of Billings; her grandchildren, Jerika (Steve) Dillenbeck, Ryder Gerberding and Landry Otis, all of Billings; her siblings, Beverly (Warren) Evans, Teresa (John) Neutgens of Wolf Point, David "Butch" (JoEllen) Grotte of Dayton, Wyo., Phyllis (Sonny) Douglas of Billings; along with 12 nieces and nephews.

At her request, cremation has taken place with Cremation & Funeral Gallery of Billings. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Wolf Point with Rev. Fr. Martin Ezeihuauku officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Wolf Point.
