Opal Rebecca ‘Becky’ Wright was born May 27, 1920 to Edward and Addie (Reeves) Wright in Poolville, Texas. Her family moved to Montana in time for her to start first grade at the old “Railroad” School in East Laurel. She graduated from Laurel High School in 1938 and from Montana State College Bozeman in 1943. She taught two years at Fairview High School. While there she met and married Ralph Lee on June 1, 1945. They lived eight years on his parents’ farm at Sioux Pass before moving to Rosebud and later to Buffalo, Montana, where they farmed until retiring and moving to Billings in 1987.
She is survived by her husband Ralph; four children: Bob (Kathy) Lee of Judith Gap, Don (Debbie) Lee of Great Falls, Patsy Miller of Osburn, Idaho, and Mary (Jon) Hesse of Livingston; six grandchildren: Kim (Craig) Knoche, Krista Evans (Geoff Lane), Kenny (Rachael) Lee, Nicole (Dennis) Tesky, Brian (Diane) Lee and Jim Lee; nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Clarence, and sister Ester.
Becky spent many years in Extension Homemakers and as a 4-H leader. She was an avid reader and an active member of Yellowstone and Eastern Montana Historical Societies. Her love of fabric was well known to family and friends and she enjoyed her membership in the Yellowstone Valley Quilt Guild. She was especially close to the Tuesday morning quilters for Lutheran World Relief at Mount Olive.
