Patricia "Patty" Norine (Wetter) Gauthier passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014 after a short illness.

Patty was born July 30, 1932, in Norton, Kan., to Joseph and Sylvia Wetter, along with her identical twin sister Dolores. She also had an older sister, Barbara. Patty was raised on a farm outside of Norton. She attended Norton Schools and graduated in 1950. Patty worked in retail and as a secretary in Norton after graduation. She met the love of her life, William “Willie” Gauthier, through her church youth "pen pal" club. They were married in Norton on Oct. 11, 1955. After a honeymoon to Grand Canyon National Park, they settled on the family ranch three miles east of Absarokee on the Stillwater River. Mom was a gardener, raised nine children and was Dad's right-hand gal. Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting, quilting, scrapbooking, playing and teaching the piano and accordion. She also loved playing games and pinochle with her family and at local card parties. Mom was a self-taught artist and loved to spend as much of her free time painting, and shared her passion by teaching others. Patty continued painting and quilting until her death. She was avid reader and passed on that love for reading to her children. Willie and Patty sold the ranch and moved into Absarokee in 1992. After retiring, Willie and Patty traveled extensively across the states and abroad.

Patty was a member of St. Michael's Parish, church organist, choir member, St. Michael's Altar Society and a member of the Absarokee Red Hats Society. Her sense of humor and zest for life were instilled in all who knew and loved her and will always be remembered.

Patty was preceded in death by her parents; sister Barbara Tacha, and son Philip Henry Gauthier. She is survived by her husband, Willie Gauthier, of Absarokee; daughters, Noreen (Joe) Anderson, of Missoula and Angela (Les) Kissler, of Columbus; sons, Dennis (Merridy) Gauthier, of Columbus, Brian (Teresa) Gauthier, of Columbus, Ted (Monique) Gauthier, of Soquel, Calif., Mark (Heidi) Gauthier, of Helena, Tom Gauthier, of Livingston and Kenneth (Terri) Gauthier, of Absarokee; 25 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Rosary will be Sunday, Aug. 3 at 7 p.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Absarokee. Funeral mass will be Monday, Aug. 4, at 10 a.m. at the same location. Interment will follow at the Rosebud Cemetery with reception at the church hall. In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family requests memorial donations to the St. Michael's Altar Society, American Heart Association, or a charity of your choice.
