Reuben Hofferber, 78, of Billings passed away Thursday, April 3, 2003.

Reuben was born May 1, 1924, to Ray and Lydia (Lesser) Hofferber in Toppenish, Wash.

Reuben was a longtime resident of Billings. He graduated from Billings Senior High School in 1942 and was a member of the championship football team his senior year.

Reuben joined the military and fought in WWII and Korea. He retired as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1965 after 22 1/2 years of service. After his retirement he worked for the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1985.

Reuben enjoyed bowling, gardening, watching sports and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his quirky sense of humor. Reuben was a life-long member of the Elks and the VFW. He was also a member of the American Legion and the NARFE.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Jean; daughters Lisa (Darrel) DeLeon, Charis (Kit) Kittelson; sons Randy and Dennis Hofferber; brothers Al, LeRoy (Judie), Archie (Judy) Hofferber; sisters Alma Kramer, Joyce Collins and Joan Hofferber; his mother Lydia; and many grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, sister Leila Bermes and his brother Don.

Viewing will be from 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday, April 6, at Cremation or Funeral Gallery. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Monday, April 7,at Grace United Methodist Church. Burial with military honors will follow at Mountview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 1935 Ave. B, Billings, MT 59102. Arrangements by Cremation or Funeral Gallery.
