Ruth Emma (Zellmer) Lacox, 89, passed away Oct. 9, 2010, surrounded by her family, at Highgate Senior Living in Billings.
Visitation will be at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14, at Edwards Funeral Home in Chinook. Funeral services will be Friday, Oct. 15, at 2 p.m., in the Hogeland American Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the Wing Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hogeland American Lutheran Church or any charity of one’s choice. Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook is entrusted with the arrangements.
Ruth was born on Aug. 6, 1921, in Twete, Mont., the daughter of Gertrude and Otto Zellmer who were farmers in the area. Ruth graduated from Hogeland High School in 1939 and continued her education by completing Beauty School in Chinook. She then worked as a beautician for Myrtle Wilson in Chinook before she married Aaron Lacox in Harlem on Dec. 26, 1945. Ruth and Aaron began their life together on the family farm two and a half miles south of Hogeland. Ruth was a devoted farm and ranch wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed working in her beautiful yard with many, many flowers. Her immaculate home and yard were admired by all. Ruth was also an active member of the American Lutheran Church in Hogeland and the American Legion Auxiliary.
For the past five years, she was a very active and loved resident of Highgate Senior Living in Billings.
Survivors include her sister, Mildred Nielsen of Kalispell; and daughters Sandra (Eugene) Beck of Hogeland, Dixie (Dennis) Roseleip of Billings, Sylvia (Fred, Jr.) Mohar of Turner; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gertrude and Otto Zellmer; brother Leonard Zellmer; as well as her husband of 60 years, Aaron Lacox.
