Samuel Clinton Posey passed away at his home on Sunday, June 15, 2014.
Sam was born June 22, 1932, in San Antonio, Texas, to Clinton Allie and Jessie Georgia (Cauldwell) Posey.
After graduating from Edison High School in San Antonio, Sam enlisted in the Air Force and served in the Korean War. He was stationed at Grandview AFB in Kansas City, Mo., where he met and married Doris Osborn in 1955. They spent nearly 60 blessed years together. After his honorable discharge, Sam and Doris moved back to San Antonio, where Sam pursued a career as a pipefitter and entered the Pipefitters Apprentice Program. After 17 years as a pipefitter in Texas, Sam and his family moved to Montana. Sam worked at his craft until he was able to fulfill his lifelong dream of owning a ranch. He then hung his hat in Grass Range. In 2012, Sam retired and moved to Billings.
Sam never met a stranger, and Doris always said he could make a fence post talk. A big man with the heart of a child, Sam had an avid love of horses, rodeo and country life. He said not so long ago that he had done everything he ever wanted to do and wouldn’t change a thing — except to buy a few more horses.
Sam is survived by wife Doris; brother Jess Posey, of Texas; sons Gerald (Linda) Posey, of Nebraska, Clinton (Jan) Posey, Frank (Shannon) Posey; daughter Sharon Jones, of Texas; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother John.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 20, at Smith Funeral Chapel West. Memorials may be made to charity of choice.
