In the early hours of Dec. 16, our world lost one of its very best in Shaun Reiter ... the best son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin and true friend.

We can only trust that God has bigger and better plans for Shaun as his loss leaves us grief-stricken, in shock and with broken hearts that only time and prayer will heal. But fear not: This young man’s contagious smile and giving spirit will stay with each of us always. Shaun left this earth in a tragic car accident that was preventable; we hope and pray that all of us can learn from this terrible event.

Shaun was born on Sept. 11, 1992, in Billings. He proudly attended Billings West High School, where he was not only blessed with a high school diploma, but an abundance of amazing, loving friends who understood the true meaning of life — to love and be loved. Shaun was an accomplished athlete, participating in baseball, basketball and football throughout his lifetime. His most recent dream and desire was to return to college and earn a degree in audio engineering, as his love of music was evident to everyone who knew him.

Shaun is survived by his parents, Greg and Tanya Reiter and Linda and Paul Nygard; brothers Derek and Matthew; sister Taylor; grandparents, Jerry Reiter, Bob and Joyce Brathole, Emil and Doris Nygard, Vince and Nancy Steinhoff, Jim and Bonnie Harrington and Sharon Garcia; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; his roommate, Colter Eaton, along with a great number of truly amazing, loving friends. Shaun is preceded in death by his grandmother, Bunny Reiter.

A celebration of life in Shaun’s honor will be held Thursday, Dec. 20, at 1 p.m., at Faith Chapel, 517 Shiloh Road, with a luncheon to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the family at 3713 Poly Drive, Billings, MT 59102. A memorial fund is being set up in order to place a plaque at Dehler Park in Shaun’s memory.

Shaun, may you rest in peace and may God bless you. We love you and miss you deeply.
