RED LODGE — Toivo “Toby” Lantta, age 91, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014, while residing at The Willows assisted living center in Red Lodge.

Toby was born Aug. 16, 1922, on his parents’ west bench farm near Red Lodge, the son of Andrew and Saima (Erving) Lantta. He attended elementary school at the rural Draper School and graduated from Carbon County High School in 1940.

Toby was married to Ellen Wilson of Roberts on June 28, 1948. They enjoyed 53 years together prior to Ellen passing away in July of 2001. Their home was the west bench family farm, four miles northwest of Red Lodge, until they retired in 1984 and moved to their home in Red Lodge.

Toby is survived by two sons, Carl (Sandra), of Red Lodge, and Ken (Rosemary), of Casper, Wyo. He is also survived by grandchildren Sari (Bob) Fisher, Ty (Rhenee) Lantta, Danielle Lantta and Ryan Lantta, and numerous great-grandchildren.

Toby was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Aina Harrison and Edna Fors; and granddaughter Aubrey Lantta.

Private graveside services have been arranged.

The family would like to recognize and sincerely thank Pastor Kim Wilker, Dr. Brad Fouts, and the entire staffs of The Willows and Beartooth Hospice & Home Care for the professional dedication and sincere friendship provided to Toby over the past number of years.

Memorials to the Messiah Lutheran Church, The Willows, or Beartooth Hospice (all of Red Lodge) would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Smith-Olcott Funeral Chapel assisted with the arrangements.
