William N. "Bill" Moots, 94, of Ballantine, passed away Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, at Valley Health Care in Billings.
He was born March 12, 1909, in Coalville, the son of Earl and Hettie (Walters) Moots. He ranched south of Ballantine for the Shaules family, then moved to Ballantine and worked at the Huntley Experiment Station for many years, retiring in 1974,
Bill enjoyed yard work, gardening, fishing, hunting and reading.
He married Marion Walker Oct. 12, 1940, in Columbus.
Survivors include his wife Marion of Ballantine; two sons, Ray (Shirley) of Hazen, N.D., and Tom (Denise) of Carson City, Nev.; his daughter, Peggy (Tim J.) Keating of Billings and a foster daughter, Linda Ehresman (Jerome) of Minnesota; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his brothers, Woodrow Moots of Huntley and Morris Moots of Shepherd; his sisters, Hazel Cooper of Lakewood, Colo., and Pat Otis (Jim) of Hermiston, Ore., and his son Billy's widow and present husband, Vicky and Lee Boyles of Upton, Wyo.
Bill was preceded in death by his son, Billy; his parents; and his brothers and sisters, Lola Walters, Louise Loveland, Nora Stene, Gladys Tyrrel, Carl Moots, Albert Moots, Paul Moots and Jim Moots.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Smith Downtown Chapel. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
