Xavier is a friendly male black lab/red Chow mix available for adoption at Billings Animal Rescue Kare (BARK). He is 9-12 months old and has red highlights throughout his black coat. He is neutered and current on vaccinations.
Xavier loves people and enjoys playing with ropes and balls. He is becoming accustomed to leashes and would excel if given the opportunity to attend obedience training. Xavier was abandoned on a ranch. While waiting for a kennel at BARK, he stayed at a private fishing lodge where he made friends with all the dogs, cats and humans he came in contact with. Xavier would enjoy living with an active family. He isn’t suited to apartment living. A city home with a fenced yard would be good for him, and a country home would be ideal.
BARK also has other dogs of all sizes, cats of all ages and about a dozen kittens waiting for a loving home.
To adopt Xavier for $125, contact BARK at 4017 First Ave. S., or 694-1107. Hours are noon to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The shelter is closed Monday.
Paper towels and kitten replacement milk are the organization’s greatest needs this month.
BARK’s annual Posh Paw Boot Scoot and Tail Wag is planned for 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 25, at Oscar’s Park, 4002 Story Road. Activities include music, food, dog games, a silent auction and canine photos by Casey Page, Billings Gazette photographer. Admission costs $5 per person and $2 per dog. Any dog that has been adopted from BARK receives free admission to the fundraiser. BARK is accepting donations for the silent auction and raffle.
