Beginning this fall the BLM will assume management of the shotgun reservation program at Sundance Lodge, a popular recreation area located on the Clarks Fork River south of Laurel.

The area provides opportunities to hunt pheasant, waterfowl, wild turkey and deer. No reservations are needed to hunt with archery equipment, but archers must first sign in at the registration box.

In the past, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks managed the reservation program to hunt with shotguns. Beginning with the 2014 hunting season, the BLM will assume those duties. There will be no change to the hunting rules and regulations in place at Sundance Lodge.

With the exception of the first two weeks of pheasant season, which are reserved for youth and youth/mentor hunting opportunities, limited reservations to hunt with a shotgun will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis starting on Aug. 28.

Reservations can be made by calling the BLM at 896-5013 or visiting the BLM office at 5001 Southgate Drive in Billings.
