Free avalanche, survival courses offered

The 5th annual Scott Herren memorial avalanche survival classes are offered for free tonight and Wednesday.

Tonight, Jan. 7, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. is a safety talk including avalanche transceiver practice. On Wednesday at the same time participants will learn about wilderness first-aid scenarios.

Both class will be offered at Hi Mountain Recreation, 141 Moore Lane. Dinner will be provided by Hi-Tech Motor Sports. There will be a raffle for an ABS Avalanche System by Ortovox by Team Idiots. A silent auction will also be held to benefit Families For Outdoor Recreation.
