Free shooting event offered for Glasgow-area youngsters
A free youth shooting and archery skills event is scheduled for Wednesday at the Glasgow Trap Club.
The event — which will include clay pigeon, turkey silhouette, air-gun shooting stations and an archery range — is open to area youngsters ranging from fourth-graders to high school seniors. Registration begins onsite at 5 p.m., and the field events will start at 5:30. The event ends at dark.
Shotguns, ammunition, targets and archery equipment will be provided at no cost, and participants ages 12 to 18 may bring their own firearms and ammunition if they prefer. Each station will be staffed by instructors.
A free barbecue will be offered to participating youngsters, but adults who wish to eat will be asked for a freewill offering to help cover expenses. A variety of prizes will be awarded to participants, and additional volunteers are invited to attend.
The Youth Day activities are co-sponsored by local chapters of Ducks Unlimited and the National Wild Turkey Federation as well as the Glasgow Trap Club and the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks.
The Glasgow Trap Club is located off Skylark Road on the west side of Glasgow toward the Sunnyside Golf and Country Club. For more information, call Ed Sugg at 406-230-2033 or Ron Selden at 406-228-3700.
