Historian Hal Stearns will recount some of his favorite Indian stories during a free program on Friday at 7 p.m. at Chief Plenty Coups State Park.

From tribal stories and ancient histories to more recent historical individuals like Sitting Bull, Plenty Coups, Sacajawea, Eloise Cobell and the Fort Shaw girls' basketball team of 1904 — all of these stories add to the vibrancy and deep meaning of Big Sky Country.

An educator for 34 years, Sterns is an instructor for the University of Montana's Lifelong Learning Institute and Humanities Montana.
