^pTo prevent the possibility of bighorn sheep mingling with domestic sheep and contracting pneumonia in northeastern Montana, Fish Wildlife and Parks is proposing to create a lethal no-bighorn zone.

Under the proposal, all lands outside bighorn sheep Hunting District 680 and deer/elk HDs 621, 622, 631 and 632, would be managed to exclude bighorn sheep. Wild sheep that wander outside of these areas could be killed by FWP or by an authorized landowner.

FWP is estimating that only small numbers of bighorn sheep would need to be killed. The management area is meant to minimize response times to commingling when it occurs.
