A seasonal closure on the Dryhead Vista road from the overlook to the Forest Service boundary with the Bureau of Land Management is being extended in the Pryor Mountains.

Included in this area is the Wild Horse Range. The road, designated to open on Monday, travels across high-elevation areas and continues to have 4 to 5 feet of snow over much of the roadway.

“This year the Pryor Mountain unit received above-average snowfall and much of the area above 8,000 feet and on northern aspects remains under snow,” said Jeff Gildehaus, outdoor recreation planner for the Beartooth Ranger District.

For updated road, trail and campground information for the Pryors, call the Beartooth Ranger District at 406-446-2103.
