Smith River permit applications available on Tuesday

Applications to float the Smith River State Park and River Corridor will be available beginning on Tuesday.

Applications must be submitted or postmarked by Feb. 15. A $10 nonrefundable application fee is required. Permit results will be available online on Feb. 28 at stateparks.mt.gov. Successful applicants will also be notified by mail.

Applications are available at: stateparks.mt.gov — click on “Smith River Floating”; fwp.mt.gov. Applications can also be picked up at FWP regional offices.

Smith River Super Permit lottery chances will also be available beginning Jan. 3. There will be only one Super Permit recipient and the winner will be eligible to launch on any date of their choosing. The cost is $5 per chance to enter and participants may purchase an unlimited number of chances. The deadline to enter the lottery is March 15, with the drawing held on March 19.

The opportunity to purchase chances for the Super Permit are only available through the FWP online licensing system at: https://app.mt.gov/Als/Index .
