Forest officials are cautioning spring turkey hunters to avoid damaging wet roads on the Ashland Ranger District in southeastern Montana as recent rains and snowfall have saturated soils and made for wet and muddy conditions. The turkey season opens on Saturday in Montana.
Forest travelers should be wary of water crossings and where recent runoff may have weakened the roadway. Travelers are also advised to leave a trip itinerary with friends or family.
For information on local conditions contact the district at 406-784-2344.
