An accident is being investigated at Stillwater Mine, according to officials.

John Beaudry, spokesman for the mine, confirmed that an accident took place on Monday afternoon, but could not elaborate on any details, including whether or not there were any injuries.

Beaudry did say representatives from the Mine Safety and Health Administration were involved in the investigation.

The mine was evacuated Oct. 19 after equipment used to move ore and waste started smoking. There were no reports of fire and no one was injured.

Stillwater is the only producer of platinum and palladium in the country.
