A Billings man was stabbed Friday night during an altercation with his roommate at a West End residence.

Police responded to the report of a stabbing just after 10:30 p.m., Billings Police Sgt. Shane Shelden said in a news release.

An intoxicated male attacked his roommate with a knife, stabbing the victim in the chest, Shelden said. The two men briefly scuffled over the knife, with both receiving minor cuts before the knife was dropped.

The victim called 911 for help and was taken by ambulance to a Billings hospital. His injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.

Police located the suspect, and after receiving medical attention, he was arrested for assault with a weapon. Police have not yet released the name of the suspect.
