A man has been charged with swinging a machete to threaten four people sitting outside a nail salon at the Rimrock Mini Mall.

Muoi Ut Ngo, 35, appeared Monday in Yellowstone County Justice of the Peace David Carter's court on a charge of assault with a weapon.

Ngo is being held in the Yellowstone County jail on a $15,000 bond and must submit to GPS monitoring should he be released.

According to court documents, at about 9:45 p.m. Sunday, four people sitting outside of the Queen's Nail Salon in the mall were attacked by Ngo, who came out of the shop swinging a machete at them. Two of the group ran, while two jumped into a truck and drove away.

The group reported to police Ngo had tried to get into the truck and had hit the vehicle at least once.

When Ngo returned to the business, he was intoxicated and told officers he didn't know what a machete was and denied he threatened anyone.

One of the witnesses, who works for Ngo at the salon, said Ngo had been drinking in the salon all day. The witness also showed officers a machete Ngo had in the salon.

Ngo is scheduled to appear on the assault charge in front of District Court Judge Michael Moses on Nov. 24.
