BIG PINEY — The Bridger-Teton National Forest plans a controlled burn later this week.
The agency says the Cottonwood II Aspen Prescribed Burn will be about 20 miles west of Daniel, on the Big Piney Ranger District.
Fire managers intend to burn 338 acres starting on Thursday, depending on fuel and weather conditions. The burn operation should take a few days, followed by another few days of mop-up work.
The burn is intended to increase aspen regeneration and improve habitat for wildlife. The Wyoming Game & Fish Department, Sublette County Fire and Teton Interagency Fire are also cooperating on the project.
